The former Liverpool manager says rejoining to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is an option. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign that included continental glory and the Premier League crown for three decades, currently occupies positions overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and providing guidance with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured England's top flight under Arne Slot, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the idea of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he shared with his interviewer: “I said I won't manage a different club in England. So that means in case it's my former club...yeah. It's plausible.”
“I’m 58, which suggests I could make the decision down the line, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Pressed on what circumstances must arise to tempt his return to the dugout, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for interviews multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats a week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad enjoying conversation, that’s nice. Success was frequent so there was often positive atmosphere at the club. I still have Van Dijk's laughter in my ear as an instance.”
Praise for His Successor
Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the adjustments that took the title last campaign. The team has suffered a string of losses in all competitions post heavy investment, but he rubbished the suggestion it could be a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry over the club, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
He shared movingly about the death of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences for the team. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision alongside his brother this past summer.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it's his character. I can’t imagine the team environment without him in it. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys also. No one within the club will ever use it to justify results yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Handling this individually is challenging. Impossible.”
