Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his position following a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received significant support from above,” the coach stated.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known failings from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell of this nature with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to where it needs to be, prove again the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
