Recent Details Surface Concerning the Location of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
New information has come to light regarding the tragic demises of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Alarm
According to a report citing a family associate, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the home. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Following this, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held without bail.
Correcting the Record
The person close to the family also disputed several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.
Additionally refuted circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes reports of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
