Liverpool's Manager Provides Zero Justifications and Pledges to Plot Route From Malaise

Liverpool's head coach stated he had to “look at myself” following the Reds endured a 6th defeat in seven Premier League games on their own turf to Nottingham Forest and insisted he would find a way out of the title holders' poor run.

Nottingham Forest, in the relegation zone before kick off, delivered the largest victory at Liverpool's stadium in their club records as Liverpool slipped to an eighth loss in eleven matches in every tournament. The most expensive domestic acquisition, the Swedish striker, was again anonymous and the home side argued Murillo’s first goal should have been ruled out for comparable grounds to the captain's chalked-off goal against City prior to the international break. But Slot conceded the buck stopped with him and made no excuses.

“No one wishes to listen to me now talking about officiating calls if you are defeated 3-0 in your own stadium to Nottingham Forest,” stated the Reds' boss. “I should examine my own role first and my squad, but it demonstrates you how a goal can alter the momentum of a match. Before I was just hoping for us to net a goal. Later we hardly created anything.

“Of course there is a path forward, particularly with the quality footballers we have. No matter if you triumph or are beaten when you look back you are always considering: ‘In which areas can we improve, where can we adjust?’ but that is something else from questioning yourself.

“I want to emphasise I am accountable for the current defeats. You are answerable when you are victorious but also liable when you are losing. I can never provide enough excuses for us to have the results we have. That is far from acceptable and I am to blame for that.”

Liverpool’s performance fell apart as Slot made several offensive substitutions when pursuing the match. “It was the identical away at Forest the previous campaign,” he said. “I substituted the French defender off and brought on [Diogo] Jota and he scored immediately to equalize at 1-1. Then it was courageous, currently it’s likely stupid.”

The Anfield side previously were defeated in back-to-back at Anfield league games by Nottingham Forest in the sixties. The most recent occasion they suffered back-to-back league matches by a 3-0 scoreline was in 1965.

The manager commented: “It was very bad. Playing at home, conceding 3-0 no matter which opponent you face is a terrible result. Unexpected if you look at the first half-hour of the game. I did not witness us creating so much in the opening half-hour perhaps the whole campaign, and the first time they arrived in our box they found the back of the net.

“It wasn’t against Manchester City, but in all other fixture we have been the controlling team and were able to create chances. Lately it is nearly constantly that we miss our opportunities and the ones we concede find the net.”
