Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

It said debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
