Fans Call for Arrest of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of Ariana Grande are calling for that a man who leaped a barricade and grabbed the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared clip depicts the individual from Australia shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers made its way down a event pathway surrounded by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being taken in", though legal records showed that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
History of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes clips of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is evidently a punishable act," wrote an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user questioned.
Fans Express Concern Over Grande's Safety
Numerous followers blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
A number of supporters also faulted event staff at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of fans had gathered in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as eight hours before it began.
The movie, to be released on 21 November, is the second of a two-part adaptation of the popular stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely bond between two contrasting characters.
The production itself is a derivative of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of last year in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, earning two for excellent wardrobe and production design.
