In a unexpected partnership that challenges traditional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the official release, "A strange meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous changes reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden group.

The questline centers on "peculiar tests and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses

The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Extra Material

Players who finish the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana together with several objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Content

This release also brings the game's third free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime franchises. The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
